This song gives me shivers. Even though this is from 1988 and I've always liked Tanita's voice and songs I have only just discovered this one. The piano in this song is something wonderful. The depth and sentiment in Tanita's voice feels very close, intimate, warm and honest.
A true Londoner and Queen's English poetry out of the voice of a true hearted poet that is Tanita Tikaram.

I am in complete agreement with all you've said, Donde. The lyrics, Tanita's intimate, honest vocals, and the interplay between piano and violin all culminate in a heartfelt, painfully honest, haunting, achingly beautiful song. Tanita, besides having a wonderful, sonorous voice, brings a quality of laying one's soul bare. Gorgeously....sublime. Thanks for posting Donde.

Question.: Can anyone post a song of the week, or do members enter submissions for consideration and administrators then choose a song? Or ...are the administrators the only ones able to participate in the selection of the Video/Song of the Week?

Ava, members can suggest, if they like a particular song or video and wish to have it in the video or song of the week. The same with the sentence of the week Members can't unfortunately insert the video or the sentence there because of permission levels for graphics and administration. However if you post your request(s) in the 'Musica' post, either Pe, Key or myself can put it in the 'main table'

The song I have nominated for Video/Song of the Week is All of Me by John Legend.
It is an incredibly gorgeoussss song, which, to me, perfectlly encapsulates what real love is about. When you love someone in truth, you love the totality of the person; the good, the bad, the mediocre, the sad, the mad(dening), annoying imperfect parts of that wonderfully fallable person, accepting and choosing to love another perfectly imperfect human, as that person, in turn, chooses to love the perfectly imperfect...you. As we accept one another as we are in truth, we become free to accept our own imperfections, and in so doing, become capable of truly loving another. None of us are perfect. Love sees all of the imperfections and chooses to love all the same....perfecting each other in the process.

All of Me so beautifully expresses the reality of love, that it immediately brought to mind a quote from one of my favorite poets, Rainer Maria Rilke. Though a bit lengthy for the Phrase of the Week, it is the perfect companion to the song.

"For one human being to love another human being: that is perhaps the most difficult task that has been given to us, the ultimate, the final problem and proof, the work for which all other work is mere preparation.........Love does not at first mean merging, surrendering, and uniting with another person...Rather, it is a high inducement for the individual to ripen, to become something in himself, to become world, to become world in himself for another's sake...."

I don't possess any poetic abilities beyond those that lie within the soul of each of us; poetic abilities which find their expression in that which brings us satisfaction, joy, and makes us feel free.

The video video and song are a beautiful marriage. Both capture the essence of love in truth; love that blossoms with time, and rather than diminish with the absence of the beat its soul, instead grows stronger with the longing.

The lyrics here are in English, which although beautiful, like the moon can merely reflect the brilliance and warmth of the sun, can only offer a glimpse of the beauty of the rhythm and depth of meaning of the lyrics in Spanish. It is such a gorgeous, song of the soul, to the soul....and is wedded perfectly (along with your beautiful images and inclusion of Pepa's achingly beautiful wedding speech)....which lovingly and faithfully expresses the love between Pepa and Silvia.....a love for which all hearts desire...and, if they are very fortunate, are blessed to experience once in a lifetime. This is my favorite LHDP scene/speech as well :-). That speech from Pepa says it all....so elegantly...so...honestly....so...beautifull....it makes my heart melt. The feeling....the magic of which you have captured so well, Dondecita! I am in compete agreement with Pe, that this should be the video of the year.....the quintessence of PepSi...as it captures the essence of love....of the soul...for.. and.. to.... another soul....a pledge to...."Cuidate el Alma"....siempre.
